I couldn't agree more about packing ahead of time. With my first, for some reason I waited 'till the very last second to actually pack the bag, maybe thinking that it would somehow be the most exciting time to do it. It was a scheduled c-section because she was breech and what ended up happening was I spent the entire morning writing in my pregnancy journal about how excited I was to finally see her. By the time my husband got home from work and we needed to leave, I hadn't even styled my hair or put on a speck of makeup. I tried to tell myself that none of that really mattered anyway, but looking at the hospital pictures, I did look twice as exhausted as most! And the hospital bag...hurriedly thrown together after discovering the slippers my mother had given to me didn't fit. I was a mess, so I can imagine how soothing it would be to have a bag packed and ready by the door a month ahead!

Schedules are oh so necessary, but sometimes so difficult to start. It is essential to stick to the routine though if you ever want any sanity or to get anything done. Baby learns to like routine too as they know what to expect.

We bought my son a cd to put him to sleep. When he was 1 yr and 3 months we decided to start putting him on a schedule. Needless to say, it was horrible the first few days. He would cry and sometimes vomit because of crying but after a few days he started getting sleepy around that time (4 hours after he wakes up). He is now 21 months and has accustomed to his napping schedule.

the best way we have found to put our 1 month old to sleep since week one has been the "gentle giraffe" my mother bought at target...it hooks to the pack n play w a velcro strap and plays several sounds but the only one we have even used is the womb sounds...and toys w womb sounds make babies feel safe as tho they are back in mommy w that familiar sound...calms colic crying spells alot too...i will recommend this for years to come to all my new mom friends as it has saved my sanity! thanks for the awesome gift nonna! lol

My son is usually a pretty good sleeper, recently he has been waking up though only after an hour or so of sleep, and he is ready to play... He isn't crying or fussing, he wants to eat then play, and he can go for hours... at first I thought it could be because he is teething, and it may be... but he neds more sleep, and so do i. LOL I'll have to try white noise to chill him out... I used to be able to pop in a movie and he would crash... but that hasn't been working like the charm it used to. LOL

I gotta say the BEST thing that worked for me was I noticed she'd wake up like 5 minutes after I would lay her down so I gave her my shirt that had my scent on it that way if she woke up and noticed mommy doesn't have me she would have my scent to help go back to sleep.

My 5 month old has had the same night time routine for 3 months and STILL doesn't sleep for more than 3-4 hours at a time. Hope one of these things will work for him!?!?

My Son, now 7 months old, sleeps alot better when I turn on classical music. Ever sinc he was about 2 months old. He can be screaming and ill say shhhh listen baby, listen, and when he finally calms down and hears it, its like he never was crying in the first place, he relaxes and is out. I now have it programed in my car radio and bought him two CD's!!

I still need to get my birth bag ready and other things too. Many friends and family tell me what to do but i want to do this on my own. Many moms love to do the right thing for their baby so they don't listen to know one.

My four month old sleeps well in the car while listening to a Christian lullaby CD. I need to make a copy for the house and see if it works there also. It would save me a lot of gas!

I havent really tried any of these except for the tv and the swing. the Swing is definately a LIFE SAVER! and aroun2 in the morning my daughter would wake up i would put her in her bouncer and put whatever colorful cartoon i could find on and she loved it she also like being swung in her carseat which is also a good workout for mom. my right arm i think is stronger than my left now lol

I know that I will still need a few things to function before I go to the hospital --like my hairbrush, so I'm going to make a list of those things and list them on a post-it note that I stick to my hospital bag.
