my husband is a laid back, takes his time, slow diaper changer that is why the baby 85% of the time beats him to the new diaper... Me quick, have everything ready,no mess mom

I always put the new diaper under the old one before changing my little one. I have prevented so many messes by doing this!

i also keep a must mommy baby bag on hand in car at all times. I also have a four year old and fnd an extra set for him as well is always better as i found myself stuck with him and the stomach bug while we were out and far from home. So now extra outfit and pullup is a must.

My little guy is in-between sizes (newborn/size 1) so I use size 1 since she has out-grown the newborn ones, but fold down the top

I keep what I call the "Mommy Bag" in the car as an extra diaper bag with all the essentials for baby and mom. Just in case we frantically run out without the diaper bag. It has saved us! Especially on those busy mornings.

I have to say I laughed so hard after reading the part about the Peri bottle because it's so true. No one tells you that you won't even be able to use the bathroom like a normal person. When the nurse handed me the bottle and told me what to do with it I probably looked at her like 3 heads (and she may have since I was so utterly exhausted that I could barely see straight). This is a great article for first timers who are close to delivery.

For boys it is very important to make sure his little thing is punting down before putting on the diaper. I made the mistake of not checking one time and his shirt got all wet!

For those who read this article especially first time moms such as myself who arent sure what to expect this first time around from personal care to to baby care, the peri bottle is a lifesaver do not leave the hospital wothout it! Also the witchhazel is a good idea, put it on your list of things to buy bedfore the baby comes so as soon as your home and on your own with that baby yo have it there and your not frantically running out to the drugstore at some ungodly hour willing to get anything to make urself more comfortable! and the best advice i recieved ever was ask for help! those first daays home , actually 1st few weeks home are chaotic, and yoiur tired and uncomfortable, hormonal, going thru a ton of changes physically, mentally, and emotionally. take whatever help is offered to you trust me youll appreciate it when ur so exhausted you dont think youll make it thru another feeding without passing out .

My darling is only 17 pounds and wears a size 3. We still have problems with both, leaking from her diaper and leaving red marks around her legs. I guess I just can't seem to make them fit.

This article was informative and funny as well. I have an almost 2 month old and I am 27 years old, I am glad there are things like this to refer to just in case you feel like you are losing your mind all together. I have had those days and am sure there are more to come but for now i'm alright and my beautiful daughter is well worth all of the pain I had to go through!! In my opinion it only gets better if you work at it!!

I have four children and after the first one I learned to check twice if not three times for everything in the diaper bag before going anywhere and just in case I set that diaper bag down by the front door and walk out, I ALWAYS ALWAYS keep two diapers in the car. Thought I'd share.

Man I have had moments like those. From my daughter soiling herself and not having an extra pair of baby clothes to falling asleep with her in the bed with me, and having her get up before me and crawl right off. When your a first time mom theres soo many thing you over look. Not realizing how important even the small stuff really is.

Yeah its a pain if you don't have diapers when you're either shopping or going out to eat somewhere. My husband and I were at dinner and she needed to be changed and I went to change her and realized we didn't have any.
I'm glad that we where just 10 minutes away from home at the restaurant and I had other family members there to take care while I ran home but yeah its a real pain if you forget something.

I put a diaper in my husbands pants pocket sometimes since mens pockets are a lot bigger than womens. I always keep extra wipes in the car also. When I forget my diaper bag there is always somehing there until we get home. I made the mistake of traveling 30 min from home with nothing to diaper in and had to be embarassed by asking my boss and coworker for wipes and diaps at our cristmas party. It was wrong!!!
