Also use a small trash can with small trash bags to avoid bad smelling because your baby goes through so many dippers that it get changed every day.

My daughter is 3 months old. She sleeps in like a teenage boy lol...like 10/11 in the morning...and doesnt want to go to sleep until midnight. I try to get her to wake up earlier, but she just falls back asleep or winds up cranky. I dont mind if she wakes up early...I just want her to go to sleep at a normal time...not midnight or 1 in the morning! Any tips??

The article says that you have to wait until your baby is 4 months old before teaching them the difference between night and day. I disagree 100%. I have 4 children, and I helped them learn the difference between night and day from birth. The main difference is teaching your child good sleep habits from day one. I put my children on a "schedule" from the time they came home from the hospital, referring to sleep books my pediatrician recommended and a wonderful book by Tracy Hogg. If you use the EASY method (book by Tracy Hogg, Baby Whisperer), then nap time comes easy and night times are easier. Also, at night keep the lights dim, use a really soft/calm voice, and be as gentle as possible when changing your baby or feeding. My oldest son started sleeping through the night at 4 months (he's now 8 years old). Another tip, don't rush to your baby's side for every noise or stir. Babies often just need to wiggle a bit, just like adults, to be more comfortable.

The fabric softner sheets is a great idea! I'm always looking for inexpensive ways to keep the room smelling fresh.

The best advice that I have ever gotten was to sleep when she sleeps. sometimes that is extemely hard because i have to eat, and do other things as well as meet her needs. i have become exhausted most of the time because i will sleep about an hour or two and be awake for a few hours.

Great Ideas! Reusing plastic grocery store bags for dirty diapers can save money and keep the smell away!

My baby is six weeks and is flip flopping his schedule! He was staying up until one or two in the morning and waking up once in the night, but last night he went to bed when we did and woke up at 2:30 and stayed up until six! I've tried swaddling him, but he freaks out if his arms are covered and can't kick his feet.

I am due in February, I already feel tired. I can't even imagine what it's going to be like when she is born. Is this normal?

Wow I wish I new not to wake your baby to feed him, cuz my baby use to sleep through feedings and I would wake him up for it. He now wakes up when he's hungry. He sleeps through the night mostly. He only wakes up once a night and then he goes back to sleep for another 4 or so hours. but I can't wait for him to be able to sleep through the whole night so I can have a full night sleep which would be so nice. I'm still very tired all the time even with him being 4 months old. I always wonder if that's normal.

I have a 3 month old little boy and it is so hard to put him on a sleeping schedule. He is not having it what so ever. I've tried everything I can think of and tips from my mother and grandmother, they do not work. He goes to sleep when he chooses to. Any suggestions?

I had twin boys 1 month ago, and getting enough sleep in the beginning was horrible. We had to wake them to eat in order for them to gain weight since they were born at 37 weeks. Now that they are eating and gaining weight we are allowing them to sleep until they wake us and let us know that they are hungry. It has definitely helped mom and dad get our sleep!

I've been agonizing about waking my 2 weeks old daughter for feedings. I called the dr. today and she said to simply let her sleep longer. This has definately eased my worried mind. I'm looking forward to sleeping a bit more now that I know I can let her sleep longer when she wants to that is haha

Since i brought my son home iv'e been hving trouble getting him to sleep at night. he sleeps wonderfully on my chest but as soon as i put him in his bed he wakes up, if not instantly then within the hour.. i try to stick to it and keep putting him back in bed, expecially when he only wakes to eat then falls back to sleep. but i end up getting too tired and fall asleep and we will both end up sleeping that way until morning. he never goes to sleep on his own. this article definitly helps me to know that im not the only one having trouble with sleeping. It helps me to know at what age is usually best for him to pick up on sleep patterns. hes three months now so hopefully us working on a pattern and him hitting the four month mark, a month from now we can both be sleeping a lot better!

I just had a little boy and his Big Sister likes to help with everything so her job is to help me get everything out for the great diaper change and when we are done she likes to take it to the back yard and put it in the trash.

I use a specialized trash can that seals the lower end of the bag containing dirty diapers and put foot powder (like for running shoes) in the bottom. It's easy to use and easy to clean.
