My son likes to chew on a frozen washcloth. He also likes the ordinary teething rings. And he sleeps a lot, which definitely helps!

She refuses the "frozen" teething rings but she does like them if I only put them in the fridge and she loves eating her favorite blanket, just knaws on it every time she gets the chance, so I decided since she loves it sooo much, I'd buy two more blankets exactly like it(just in case something happens along the way)...Sometimes I rub her gums with my finger and she really seems to get relief just from that!! I have ori-gel and liquid baby pain killer if she is having a bad night with the pain!

I purchase some of the mesh food rings, and I filled them with frozen fruit I thawed slightly under a warm tap. It took my son a few tries before he liked them but then it really helped. But its also a huge mess. I also bought him silicone teethers and he loves to chew on them. Oh and when its really bad a bath if your little one likes the bathtub sometimes it can distract them until the pain subsides

I have a 5 1/2 months old baby girl, and she's been teething since she was 3, but no teeth yet... So I tried homeopathic baby drops (i saw no results), and the baby orajel, but I was concerned about giving benzocaine to my girl, anyway I don't think that helped either... the teething ring and cold cloths only made her more upset... So I bought a baby tooth brush and when she get fussy we play and brush her gums. IT'S GREAT, LIKE KILLING TWO BIRDS WITH ONE STONE... SHE GETS RELIEF AND ALSO SHE GET USE TO THE IDEA OF BRUSHING HER TEETH... It worked wonders for me, hope it help you too!!!

My baby is 5-months old and is cutting her first tooth and I'm so excited for her and keep looking forward to her smiles! Having said that, the only thing with her new pearly whites I've noticed is that she cries more easily and just wants to be held. If that is the worst teething brings, I'll be a very happy mom...

I am going to try the Benadryl idea on my son. We purchased a teething item that you can put ice in or apple slices in. My son really seems to like the ice.

My son started teething at 4 1/2 months, at first we tried the "baby orajel" naturals and it seemed to help, but once he started getting older and his other teeth started coming in (6 months now) I noticed that the teething tablets and a wash cloth thats been in the freezer helps, because it forms to there gums :)

Some advice that I got from friends (and verified with her pediatrician) was a little bit of children's benadryl. What I was told was to take your finger and just dab it into the liquid then rub that on baby's gums. It isn't enough to really affect the baby but seems to numb their gums enough to allow her to rest. I tried with with my 8 month old and it really seemed to help! I hope this helps another new mommy.

well i have a 5 month old and what really seems to work is onion. i know this sounds crazy but it works. only the first layer of the onion though, just rub the onion, both sides, on his gums and its numbs their gums. no more fussiness.

This article is helpful, but could have had a few more ideas. I have a 10 month old and she only has two teeth. So it has only began. she has her two top teeth slowly coming in and i give her cold teethers. Which im sure that everyone knows about them. and i have heard of taking a washcloth and wetting center of washcloth (take finger and make a "tripod" ) and freezing that. So that baby can chew on frozen part and not freeze fingers with the part that isn't moistened. Just an idea for anyone interested.

My son is only 3months and hes already got 2 teeth in!!! he's super cranky these days but i let him get lots of rest and it seems to keep his mind off the pain most of the day. i make sure as soon as he wakes up to give him a bit of oragel also, that really seems to help.

GREAT article, teething time is horrible for parents as well as babies if you don't know how to sooth them. Tylenol was a blessing for my little man along with the cold refrigerated teethers and damp cold washcloths. Didn't know about the visual stimulation but I can share that info with family and friends who will be going through the teething stage.

I found that with my daughter a damp wash cloth is great to help her teeth. She just likes how it feels in her mouth also teething rings you put in the fridge I guess the cold helps numb the pain.

I have not tried this yet with our son. My GF said with her kids she used booty lube?!? It sounds crazy right? She had got it from lovers lane and so on. Apparently its edible too, it numbs for hours I guess. Has anyone else heard/done this?

you can put ice in the baby food self feeder (suppervised only) that has netting.i am not sure what it is called.it has a handle so little hands do not get cold. if old enough you can use juice or unsweetened koolaid.i am not a mom i am a grandma.
