Sesame Street has a great episode where baby curly bear is trying to get rid of her binky. I'm pretty sure it's called Binky Bye Bye. We watched it several times before we were ready to give up the binky. I don't think it was the "magic" answer but it helped get ready for it.

I have 2 year old twins that both take a pacifier and I would love to get them off of them. They only get them at night and when they are upset. They are have blankets that they are attached to, what else can I use in leiu of the pacifier? I am going to use the Binky Fairy process, in which you put all teh binkys in a bag and leave it outside for the fairy to come ans get it and she leaves a special prize. I just need to know what to get for hte prize.

I notice when kids use a pacifier for long term or they use the pacifier all day, have speech delay. My daughter uses a pacifier but not all day only when she's upset. I would like to get rid of the pacifier by the time she turns two in august.

My son stayed with my mom over one weekend and when he came home, Come to find out the had been with-out it for almost two full days. I was so happy, granted the first week was horrible at nap and bed times. But he got so much better with it. I didnt think it would ever work but try braking ur child on a new moon and by the end of the cycle they will not want it anymore. I tried three times just randum and it never worked before my mom did that. Were so happy ty mom

My son is 2½ and he just gave up the binky this week. He didn't have it for 2 days and one day he grabbed it out of the silverware drawer. I said you don't need that you're a big boy. Your brother doesn't have one. Why don't you go put it in the trash can? He looked at the trash, opened the drawer again and put it back with the silverware. (just in case). He's been chewing on his shirt sleeve, but hasn't asked for a binky. He has his moments when I can tell he could use it. We just do something else to get his mind off it. He's such a good kid. (with wet sleeves)

My son is 15 months, and now we only use the binky at bed or nap time, and we are planning to slowly ween him off by the time he is 18 months. I learned my lesson with my first daughter who used the binky until she was almost 4. I will not go through that again!!

My son turned one three weeks ago. He's been good about using his pacifer only at night when he sleeps and when he naps during the day. And sometimes he doesn't need it. I am hoping that he'll become more comfortable with sleeping without it and the need for it will just fade away. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I was waiting for my son to finish teething with his front teeth and that came and went. Then I was waiting for him to turn 1 and well, that was a week ago and I still haven't taken it away. I do however try to limit his usage. He gets it at night when he goes to bed and nap time. I try to leave the house without it, or at least without him knowing I have it in the diaper bag, and it seems to be working. He doesn't even think about it. I guess out of site out of mind is working for him! I just feel bad because it seems to really calm him down...

I want to start weaning her off (23 months). She's getting her 2 yr molars in now though. She looks to that for comfort. If she doesn't have it, she's biting holes in her fingers and hands. I'll keep it until those last 4 teeth are in!

my 13 o old baby girl only wants the pacifier before nap or bedtime. It is the only way she can fall sleep. The doctor said she should be off no later that 2 years old. I will try the advice from the article about keeping a little bear next to her before her nap or bed time. Thanks.

Baby just LOVES her paci. I can't imagine her giving it up now at 21 months, but I kow our ped. wishes she would. If she wants it and it's not bedtime or a stressful time, I ask her if she wants to go to bed, and tell her pacis are for going to bed. She gives it over to me because she doesn't want to go!

A idea that helped my oldest son get rid of his pacifier was I cut the very tip off it so when he sucked on it he wasnt able to suck and he tossed it and never had it again. I hope this works as well for my youngest son, he is only 1 1/2 but I have started limiting his use with it. Good luck moms and dads.

My twin boys love their pacifiers and we just recently started the process of breaking the paci habit. They are only to allowed to have their paci's at night time. Hopefully we are able to break the night time paci habit very soon as well.

I never had a problem with getting rid of the bink. I only gave it to him when he wanted his bottle and I was busy making it for him and he would just get mad at the bink. So getting rid of the bink was a cinch...
