Not all tantrums are created equal. Understanding your child’s reason for acting out can give you strategies to help your child manage their feelings and put a cap on tantrum-induced chaos.

I have a 1 month baby boy he does actually sleep at night alot for like 5 hours but hes really alert in the day. But I would like advice if is okay to keep letting the baby sleep with us in the bed or should i start teaching him to sleep in the crib?

Wow my daughter does both of these. haha & only at 18months. Very helpful though. So far I think I handle them well. But I watch my niece during the week & she does this as well. Its a little harder for me to handle because she can talk, scream & yell at me back. So it makes me want to yell. But now I have better techniques to handle the situation. Thanks. -Kelly

When my daughter came home form the nciu she was on a sleep every three hour schedual. After about a month i weaned her into a new schedual..her routine was warm bottle, bath, getting read to, and then she is placed into her crib with her singing sea horse, where she puts herself to sleep. Once i started this routine she started to sleep 8-9 hours a night, and has been doing so ever sence.

I sleep with my two months and three weeks old baby. I know is not recommendable because they get used to the body heat and for sofocation and what not. He sleeps everywhere during the day though. He sleeps in his little play yard/ bassinet, swin, and his own bed. He sleeps good at night but he has his bad nights as well.

Great tips on creating a "good" sleeper. I have had trouble putting my six week old son down in his crib mainly due to my own attachment issues, but this article examines the harsh reality of not putting him in his crib and creating a poor sleeper.

I found these tips very helpful. I am going to have to try some of them. My daughter is only 5 weeks old but she gets up every 2-3 hours for feedings and has trouble getting back to sleep at times. I need to start putting her in her crib so she can have some consistency.

First time mom here.. my son is 5 months old and I just got to the point of putting him in his crib before he's all the way asleep. Wish i'd done it a long time ago. He has a habit of waking up every 2 to 3 hrs during the night.. but at least now i can soothe him a little bit and most of the time he'll fall back to sleep laying in his crib

These were all great tips for my second child. My first child would wake up every 2 hrs though out the night like clock work til the age of 2. My second child is a little bit nicer on mommy, but still wakes up twice during the night. Is there other tips that can be provided to get my child to sleep throughout the whole night? Heaven forbid we keep this up til this child is two...

#4 is something that I totally didn't believe until I tried it myself. At first, I would have my little girl fall completely asleep in my arms before putting her down for the night, and that got very time consuming and frustrating at times. Then I tried putting her down when I started seeing her eyes get heavy and her hands went up to rub her sleepy eyes, and it actually worked! Even though I may need to rub or pat her back a little at times to get her to fully doze off once she's down, it is much easier than walking her around for 20 minutes trying to get her into a deep sleep!

I found this article helpful, as my son started throwing tantrums recently. More importantly, my son likes to throw "manipulative" tantrums and often cries for an incredibly long time. We have been trying to ignore him and wait until he calms down, it has been incredibly hard, since your first reaction is to pick him up and soothe him, but we have noticed that the frequency at which he throws tantrums is slowly decreasing.

The bedtime routine was extremely helpful for us. At 3 months our little guy goes into "long sleep" mode after our routine: change diaper & outfit, bath every other night, read a book, sing a song, last feeding. Lights go down really low after we read and we whisper when reading to create a calmer mood. It's great!

I agree with the "all crib, all the time." My first had a great schedule from the start, and we always put him to bed in the same spot. He caught on, and would fuss until you put him in his crib, then he'd fall asleep on his own!
I also sleep with the baby blankets a couple nights before giving them to baby. Smells like mom, and babies love that!
