My 14 month old is starting to dance when he plays his musical toys. It is so fun to see him react to the music. I definitely want to encourage him to express his creativity while he is still little!

Great. We were considering signing up our 2yr old for a fun music class, now I am sure to.

I took piano lessons as a child and I really hope that my kids will take an interest in music. My toddler loves to strum on my husbands guitar already. How old should a child be before beginning music lessons?

It's very true about music. I started my daughter off at an early age and she now plays the clarinet. My 15 month old son loves music and loves to dance. He babbles into the microphone that's attached to his keyboard. So hopefully he will like to play the piano when he gets older.

Music is a universal language, why wouldn't you promote your child's music education?! We love all sorts of genre of music in our household and take every chance we get to take our little one to concerts, music classes and making music ourselves at home!

This was a very helpful article for me & her grandparents, my daughter loves any kind of music, she taps her foot to the beat, or will bob her head. she's been doing this for @ least since 6 months. She's been walking since 7 months. She will bounce in rythmn to what's playing. I guess maybe she'll take after her MIMI who was in band & has played her flute for her since she was a newborn along with playing cd's of classical music! Thanks for the knowledge!

the musical instruments where the child can make the "music" themselves is so much more rewarding for them when they discover it was them creating the sounds. music early and often!

It's completely true! I introduced my son to music very early on. His vocabulary, communication, and comprehensive skills far surpass the "norm" for his age group. (2 yrs)

My little one loves music. He loves dancing and singing aling to anything especially with mom and dad. We usually turn on kid friendly songs while we prepare dinner and sing and dance around the kitchen and dining table while we set out dishes

Sounds great but did I miss the part where it talked about what age to start this? It sounds like music can be fun BUT if it's going to help memory, discipline and such I'm guessing some type of formal learning/lessons are needed? Unless, as a parent, you also happen to be musically inclined - which I am not. If I missed all this info please let me know! Thanks!

I use music in many ways, one way was my son learned to spell his name by putting it in a song form.
