Review 1 for 5 Fun Games to Play with Your 1 Year Old

Date:October 10, 2014
Both my daughter and son love play dishes. My daughter received real, single serving pots, measuring cups and spoons, and utensils from my brother for her first birthday and a few years later still spends a lot of her time playing kitchen. My son, who is just over a year old, stirs pots and "cooks" with their dishes more than he plays with any other toys.

Our little guy enjoys Old McDonald song, Peek a Boo and talking about what we are doing and having him help, i.e. brush your hair, brush your teeth, pick up toys, etc.

We sing and dance through any task we need to complete with our 1yr old. We simply sing the words of what we are doing using a familiar tune. For example: We need toys put away & he's not cooperating. We might sing, "Jackson needs to pick up toys" to the tune of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star". It works every time as a positive way to redirect him and get him to complete a task that needs to be done.

I found it fun to keep repeating the song over but change my tone to exciting and my facial expressions! My daughter loves it when I sing and bounce her while I sing!!

Both my kids (4 &1) love dancing/ music. They can be cranky and I turn on the music...BOOM! They are dancing and singing and smiling from ear to ear.
