I like the idea for the sheets. What I could really use is a way to make dinner and feed the entire family (including baby) then still have time to clean up after dinner. Anyone have a vial of pixie dust?

I'm going to try the timer and sheet idea! I'm always looking for quick ways to make this home look like adults live here too :)

For the fitted sheets, put a waterproof pad between each layer. Then when you need to remove the top sheet, the mess doesn't soak through to the next clean set. I even have a waterproof pad under the fitted sheet across our bed for night-time nursing and early morning snuggles just in case we fall asleep and baby dribbles or leaks from his diaper.

Will definitely have to try some of these ideas. Unfortunately, being in a SMALL apartment with limited space makes keeping areas off limits. We do close the doors for the rooms and have a baby gate blocking the kitchen. Thanks for the tips!!

I already do so many of these, so glad that I was a Nanny and got lot of experience behind me before having my own kid. I really am impressed with the list and hope that other people look at it and get great ideas!

This is a great reminder on things I have thought of that have slipped my mind, like shoes at door and no eating drinking in living room. I love that I can blame the baby for the shoes at door rule hehe

I enjoyed this article! It got me motivated to get up and change some things in our daily scheduale. I especially liked the no shoes policy! It seems like I sweep my floors two and three times a day anymore. And I'm definatly going to get a baby gate now!

I tried the layered fitted sheets and it just messed the 2nd one up when my daughter let the milk run out of her mouth. So I just deal with the bending to change them. My daughter, Rukia, likes to take the broom when she is in her walker an "sweep" lol its to cute.

Very informative article! This a great way to keep germs, bacteria, and other harmful things out of a baby's reach. I love it.

Everyday, IF I'm lucky enough, my 10mth old will nap twice a day for 20mins. That gives me 40mins, tops, to thoroughly clean- she needs me by her side most of the time because I'm breastfeeding. So, with her being mobile and needy, to two dogs, a cat, a husband and my non clinical diagnosis of O.C.D. I find it very difficult to not only keep things in corresponding places but also to clean. don't get me wrong-I am able to wash dishes, put a load of laundry in, walk the dogs, clean out litter box, feed animals, and make the bed before she starts fussing in the morning but, It's just the other house work I'm unable to get to ie dusting, organizing Everything, and steam cleaning the floors, and the up keep of the home itself. So, I'm incorporating the idea of marking one major thing on the calendar to complete, on top of the basic house work, for the times I'm able to brake away when my 10mth old naps. In addition, I'm going to set a timer(another writers idea) as a self motivator to move faster;) Can't wait to try it out starting tomorrow!

I loved this article! I can relate to this. My 10 month old gets into and finds EVERYTHING! Just when we think something is in a safe spot, she finds a way to get to it. Baby proofing is never complete at our house. Our struggle is teaching our two toddlers that shes a baby and doesnt understand that certain things are not for her and that things cant be left laying around :)

I love some of these ideas... and with 3 little ones at home, I can see how the clean o'clock will fit into our routine nicely, and still leave me some time for myself!

We invested in a used roomba. It has been a wonderful returned investment!!! I have made a chart that stays on our refrigerator and I make myself do at least ONE thing on the list per day. Some days I can get a few of the tasks done but I have found that one task at a time is the best way to do this.

All great advice except the bed sheet suggestion just make sure you have clean ones on hand not on the bed invade there is a wet accident because you might find yourself with 3 wet and soiled sheets instead of 1 :) just a thought

What I've done with this idea: I did only two mattress covers with a larger "reusable" pee pad separating the two. At night, I carefully place my 10mth old in the middle of the pad which gives me about a 50/50 chance of coverage should anything happen. This way the m.c. underneath is protected. Hope this works for you as well:P
