Baby Bundling 101

Newborns love the secure feeling of being tight in a cozy blanket. Here are the steps to the mysterious art of the baby burrito.

I tried swaddling m little one, even let her grandma give it a try, but she hated it. She would wiggle and fuss until her arms were free. I guess she was tired of being cramped up and loved the open space. She actually falls asleep with arms wide open haha...

My baby is almost 3 weeks old and already hates being swaddled, he likes having his hands free while he sleeps.. He mostly sleeps with his hands by his face, so i have found that if i just swaddle him with out tucking his hands inside, just leaving them out and then put him down to sleep he sleeps just fine :)

This is so true my baby would sleep longer when he was wrapped like this when he was first born and did not need to be held while he slept

I actually find any size of blanket works. I have small blankets for my newborn and she is able to be swaddled.

A 28x28 blanket is not big enough for a good swaddle... I use a 40x40.

Swaddling can be a pain & often the blanket falls apart anyways. I recommend a swaddling blanket, like Halo Sleep Sacks. They make swaddling simple & my baby loves them. I know a lot of hospitals have even started using them!

My baby loves to be swaddled. The tighter the swaddle, the better for her.

Swaddling is such a great idea to keep the baby cozy and warm! After my little girl was born she stayed in the hospital for a 2 weeks, and swaddling was the only way she like being, even when she wassnt trying to sleep. I must admit that her farther was better at wrapping her up then i was, guess i was not quick enough!! However, now that she is home and doing sooooo much better she does not like it as much she likes being free and able to move around a lot. I still try to swaddle her at night, but she just kicks out of it!

I found the specialty swaddling blankets to be awesome with my twins that are now almost 2 months old. I've been using them for about a month or so and it really calms them. They have velcro attachments which keeps them intact more so in the event of a breakout compared to using a receiving blanket. From time to time my twins are able to get their arms out but it does not disturb their sleep and they are comfortable and content so I am happy. I would recommend trying it. WalMart has Grananimals brand which are about $10, they wash and dry well too.

Everyone who says its a challenge well their right but its wayyyy worth it when baby just wants to be cozy or just isnt feeling well i know because my lil man of just 2 months got a summer virus called the hand foot and mouth virus where you get sores on the hands feet and VERY painful sores in the mouth my poor boy didnt even want to drink a bottle for days so i turned to swaddling wrapped him up and his hours of pain and crying were cured i swaddled got out a medicine syringe and fed him like that and everything tured out fine thats to swaddling

This can sometimes be a challenge...it's nice to know how to wrap your baby with one or both of their arms out. Until what age do you swaddle your baby?

I have swaddled my girl (almost 2 months old) every night since she was born. I used a blanket at first, now she is too long for it. I use the pre-made wraps (by Halo or other companies) and she sleeps thru the night! Her night time bottle is at 11, then I rock her until she's asleep then lay her down in her bed. She sleeps the whole night! I have to wake her up at 8am (that's when I choose for her first feeding). She would sleep longer if I let her! (FYI I am breast feeding/ pumping)

There is a blanket called a "Miracle Blanket" that they sell on Babies r us website only. Its the best for swaddling. your baby cant get out and its built totally for snuggling perfectly. Get that and you will be golden.
