Another helpful article. We've been letting our 19month old son drink water our of the sippy cups for months. However, we are still fearful about switching him out of bottles as he doesn't yet know how to control the amount of liquid or suck. We will continue the transition process.

I feel this article needs more elaboration on the steps to take. I went from bottles to bottle before nap-time and bed time to sippy all the time.

This is so true. the Nuk Sippy Cups I found at walmart for 2.47 a piece (great price) and its a no bite spout and makes her feel like shes drinking from a big girl cup and she has taken really well. Tried all sorts of sippy cups until I found this one.

Yeah, article was not super helpful. My one year old is transitioning and will actually drink out of a straw cup, but not as much as if he was drinking out of a bottle, so i constantly worry if he's getting enough to drink. It seems like he's more interested in playing with it or using it and its contents as a crayon. Also, I have to say no matter how much these companies hype "spill proof" cups, i find that they are not really spill proof, so i get big, and little puddles of milk everywhere.

This article didn't really help much for me. My daughter will be one at the end of this month and she has been drinking from a sippy cup since she was 5 months old. As soon as she showed interest, I offered it to her. I'm worried that she won't get enough fluids. I am also wondering what is the best way to transition to milk from formula? I know this was just a few quick tips, but anything more in depth would be really helpful! I will talk to her doctor of course, but its always nice to have some ideas to go over with him!

I started off substituting one bottle from the day with 2% milk, then as the weeks progressed I started giving him more and more 2% milk and now he's hooked on it.(: Good luck.

My daughter went from breast milk to regular milk without a problem. Maybe try about 2 oz @ first then increase the amount over a period of time. I heard from alot of people that she would become constipated but so far so good! Of course you should talk to your dr before giving cow's milk..
p.s. I didn't give my daughter milk until she was about 11 months...a few days short of her 1st b-day! Hope this helps you a little :)

My son was the same way! it only took about one week and he was off!! and let me tell you he LOVED HIS BOTTLE!!!! what worked for me was giving him plenty of milk from a straw cup before nap time like 3min before then put them down for a nap they are going to cry and its going to be hard trust me but if you could do this for one week.. it will work! i think its harder for us moms having to see our kids crying or upset and we give in alot but its not helping them at all.. its not going to be easy hearing them cry but you can do it! be strong!

My son will be 2 this coming July and still wont give up on the bottle all through the night. He will fuss and whine until he gets the milk bottle. I have watered it down to only an ounce of milk and all the rest water which is better but he wont take only the water in his bottle. Ever since he was born he has never used a pacifier so that is not a solution. I have been giving in to this habit to keep the peace and to be able to sleep through the night. I know the "cry it out" option but a week or more with out sleep getting through the phase is not an option for me. Any suggestions or helpful words would really help me. Thank you.

My 12 month old will only drink milk warm out of a bottle. Juice and water are fine in his cup but not milk.
