Loved the article, I have a 4 year old who is extremely active and never wants to go to sleep no earlier than 10 to 11 p.m. every night even though she takes a nap every day at school.....I also have a 2 yr old who no matter how early or how late she takes a nap she's always wide awake every night and wont sleep till 2 or 3 a.m.....its exhausting.....any suggestion anyone???

Loved this article for the most part, but my daughter will scream in her crib anywhere from 5-45 minutes every night, and will wake up a half hour after falling asleep, and start crying, and I give in and put her in bed with me. Even when I didnt, she would still wake up and cry. She is approaching 17 months begining of May. I have no idea how to stop this! She is still breastfed, which I would like to stop, but I would like her sleeping through the night in her own bed. She is old enough to sleep through thenight and not be hungry. Dr said just let her cry, but its been months, and she just screams.

not all doctors are right on the advice that they give , i would suggest that you wait until she falls asleep & then quietly & carefully place her in her own bed but make sure the noise level is low so that way she will not wake up !

Review 4 for 8 Sleep Tips For Every Child

While I did find these tips helpful my biggest area of concern is getting my 4 and 2 year old to bed without having to stay in bed with them. I do agree with many of the key points made in the article.

Although this was a good article I wished that you would of pointed out there does come a time, weather or not us mommies like it. Our children out grow their naps and this may be as early as 18 months. My youngest son refuses to sleep during the day! Our doctor said that he's growing fine and his temperment can be challenging at times. You can't force him to do it. He is sleeping from 7pm to & 7am. So not what my other two kiddos did but he is his own little man I guess...

My son is always asking for one more book...anything to stall bedtime. And when he finally gets into bed, he has to tell all of his stuffed animals about his day.

I had a niece that had that same problem and what they had o do was use the mattress from the crib to get him used to the toddler bed. Then when he is use to that you can switch to the newer mattress.

Developing a schedule early on is the key to getting your little one to sleep through the night. I found that playing really hard before bedtime, and dancing to some music helps. If my son was teething though its impossible for him to sleep through the night. At one point he would wake up crying for no reason at all, which was frustrating to no end, and we actually found out that he was afraid of the dark! With his new nightlight he was back to sleeping through the night again.

I am raising my two year old grandson and sleep has been not so much a problem but more of a worry for me, the reason is that my husband works a swing shift si the baby hears when he gets home and now he gets up and wont go back to sleep until his grandfather does so alot of nights he's up until Midnight or later and then sleeps until atleast 11:00 am and naptime has become around 4:00 pm and he seams to be getting enough sleep but im worried about when he starts preschool or even that maybe there could be health risks, but reading your article gave me alot of good points that i will be useing so thank you.

Maybe these tips will be able to help us. Our son doesn't want to go to bed at night and has been waking up in the middle of the night.

These are simple and great ideas. My 19 month old is just beginning to sleep consistently through the night. He needs to gain some weight..this article suggested some great bed time snacks.

Great tips. My 22 month old goes non-stop all day, except for a 1to 2 hour nap, and it takes 2 hours to get her to sleep by midnight and then she wakes through the night.

All the tips were great. But my problem is just this: I have two kids under the age of 4, we are day sleepers because of my schedule and how trying to get them to become night sleepers. How do I get them to switch over? It seems harder than I figured because just like the article stated your body knows its time to wake up when the sunrises and go to bed when the moon is out. But they are so set on the schedule we had before.

My daughter just turned one, we wear her out pretty good through the day. When we go lay her down, if we stay in there and try to read her a book she just screams to get out. Then if we just leave the room she stays up and plays for a good hour. Should we continue to let her play if it's "bed time"?
