Good article! We started last week and all the tips will definitely be helpful! There are 8 yrs diff between my son and daughter.. I think PT Girls may be a little more challenging :/ Wish us luck! :)

I am going to have to disagree with some of the points in this article. I have been working at a preschool for over five years in toddlers and I know from experience you shouldn't stop potty training once you start. Unless they are not ready and they wet themselves every 15 to 30 minutes. It makes it ten times harder to potty train if you stop and start back up again.

I totally thought my daughter was ready, as she showed several signs of being ready. But in the end, she still needs a little time before we will try again. She follows me each time I go and we talk about how pee and poop go in the potty. Then, she wants to flush the potty and wash her hands!!

My almost 20 month old has shown interest with the potty because she often accompanies me to the bathroom - ha. She likes to hand me the toilet paper and says Mommy pee! These are some helpful tips that I'm sure will be used when the time is right.

A PAINFUL BM FOR SURE MAKES IS HARD TO POTTY TRAIN FOR POOPING. MY DAUGHTER WOULD HOLD HERS FOR 3 TO 4 DAYS! WE USED THE TIPS AT WATCHING FOR GAS AND GAVE HER PRUNE JUICE TO SOFTEN THEM UP. AFTER ONE SMOOTH BM SHE WAS GOOD TO GO!

I agree with this article that all children are different and they will do it when they are ready. My children have all been easy so far but who knows about my last he can be very stubborn. With all their milestones I have learned that I should not stress too much about the age as long as it is within reason because they truly do all of them at their own pace.

I found it helpful to be reminded not to rush things or push my child into using the potty before she is ready. I also liked the idea of a sticker chart for motivation, though at the same time I don't want to overdo the notion of using the potty simply to earn a reward.
