I really need help for my 4 yr old grandson. He is not potty trained and absolutely refuses to poop in the potty or toilet.Unfortunately, his mother is inconsistent and has missed many opportunities in the past. He used to squat to have a bm,but now makes no effort to go anywhere other than his pants. Mom says her first child didn't train until he was 5+ yr old. Is this the new way? Any attempt to get him to go potty is met with an emphatic and loud "NO" any suggestions

well i can understand the bid NO word my 3yr old says it to for the potty...my 1st son was easy and potty trained at 2yrs...my now 3yr old was doing great potty trainning at 2 1/2 yrs but then once my daughter was born and he seen her wearing diapers that was it he said sissy wears diapers i wear diapers! So now we are starting all over and the hard part for us and him is going b4 he goes in his pants and to do it period he just doesnt want too...so we are gonna go at this another way we took him to pick out his own potty chair and his pullups and underwear, and he loves stickers so everytime he goes we give him a sticker to put on him and one for a potty chart bc once he fills it up we give him something fun to go do or a small reward of somekind even if its to play a game on the computer or to pick what we watch etc...i hope my story can help u some way i wish u and ur grandson the best at potty trainning!

I am a new mom, my daughter is 1 1/2 and she turns 2 in 3 months and I am already trying to potty train her I am kinda jus going w/the flow but I want to get her use to the potty I have read several articles about potty training but I think it depends upon the kid. Sense he is older maybe u can try a potty chart and every time he goes pee pee u can put a star sticker or which ever sticker he would like and try to explain to him if he goes pee and poo in the potty he gets a special prize and the end of the week or month or whatever one would work for u but in my opinion it would probably be better if its consistent. My niece was really stubborn and she jus turned 4 and her parents and a really hard time w/her too and her mom and dad would have her sit on the potty for a long period of time until she went..like i said i am new and not an expert and you have probably ready articles too but i hope i was some what helpful, good luck.
